From the Causse Comtal to the Rougier de Camarès, from the Ségala plateau to the Dourbie valley, the producers in the Roquefort area open the doors of their farms wide to you. You will observe the Lacaune ewes, discover breeding practices, share with the producers a moment of their daily life… and a piece of Roquefort. Be sure to contact the breeders in advance: they will tell you the appropriate times for the visit.

Castelnau Farm – Nant

In the heart of the Dourbie valley, between the foothills of the Larzac and the edge of the Cévennes, Isabelle and Dominique Gély, their associates Guillaume and Victor, welcome you to a farm-inn with four turrets: the Château de Castelnau, former residence of the Marquis d’Assas in the 17th century. Come and meet the local chatelaines: the Lacaune sheep. Visit of the farm, film screening, exchanges, tasting and sale of Roquefort, all in a bucolic setting.

Vézinies Farm – Salles-la-Source

It is the most northerly of the farms in the Roquefort area open to visitors. The Vézinies farm welcomes you near the village of Salles-la-Source, on the prosperous Causse Comtal plateau. Visit of the sheepfold, milking facilities, discovery of sheep and cattle farms, cheese tasting including Roquefort. Projection, in a reception room, of a film on life on the farm to the rhythm of the seasons.

Alcas Farm – Saint-Jean-et-Saint-Paul

Very close to the Cistercian fort of Saint-Jean d’Alcas, one of the jewels of the Templar and Hospitalier Larzac, the Alcas farm opens its doors to you. Alexandre and Émilie will show you around their farm and explain their commitment to a biodynamic approach (certified Demeter), their agroecological and livestock practices. Producers of organic sheep’s milk for the production of Roquefort and, also, farm yoghurts.

Gaec de la Poulenque – Requista

In the hilly landscape of the Ségala plateau, fertile agricultural land, a quartet of breeders welcomes you to the Gaec (joint farming group) of Poulenque, in the town of Réquista. Michel, Jérôme, Delphine and Guillaume present their Lacaune sheep herd, the operation of their farm, and explain in detail their daily breeding activity.

Puech-February Farm – Ségur

A haven of tranquility with a view of the Lévézou ridges, the Puech-Février farm and the hostess, Marie-Noëlle, welcome you to a green landscape in the town of Ségur, at an altitude of 940m. Vacationers on the farm, you will discover the herd of sheep, faithfully accompanied by two dogs and two donkeys, the meadows dedicated to grazing, its educational garden. “Welcome to the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park” label.

Fleurines Farm -Roquefort-sur-Soulzon

Its name was all found: how else to baptize the Fleurines farm, so close to the village of Roquefort that its Lacaune ewes graze on the grassy slopes of Combalou? Jean-Marc and Corinne welcome you to Lauras for a tour of their sheepfold and milking facilities, complete with a tasting of Roquefort or flaune, this typical Aveyron cake made from sheep’s milk.

Hermilix Farm – Versols-et-Lapeyre

On the plateau of Hermilix, commune of Versols-et-Lapeyre, Alice welcomes you to the setting of her farm. Guided tour, explanatory panels, Roquefort tasting, introduction to its aromas, snacks with homemade sheep’s milk desserts. “Welcome to the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park” label. A discovery trail leads you to a vast lavogne (paved pond for sheep) which testifies to a firmly rooted agro-pastoral tradition.
